How the Theme Shapes a Season
The theme is not a slogan — it is the curriculum's spine. Each season, all six subjects (Science & Technology, History, Social Studies, Art & Music, Literature & Media, and the Special Area) are curated around the theme, and since the 2024 season a single official Guiding Questions document has replaced the old per-subject outlines as the study source.
That one document defines the season: it is what the Scholar's Challenge and Bowl can test, and the well that debate motions and writing prompts draw from. Under "Are We There Yet?", questions range from technological progress to journeys in literature — a debate about climate policy and an art question about pilgrimage paintings can trace back to the same thematic thread.
