Tournament of Champions Prep Program

The Tournament of Champions at Yale is the hardest round of the World Scholar's Cup season: every scholar in the room qualified at a Global Round, the Scholar's Challenge cutoffs climb, debate fields sharpen, and the margins between alternate honors and champion trophies get thin. This program is built to close that gap.

From September 5–6 to November 7–8, 2026 — ten weeks, ending the weekend before families fly to New Haven — scholars train twice a week. The first session is a two-hour weekend masterclass led by Coach Shaurya (1st Champion Scholar at the 2019 Hague Global Round and three-time Asimov Award winner), working through the 2026 "Are We There Yet?" curriculum at ToC depth across all six subjects and all four events. The second session is a two-hour judged practice round each week: real ToC-format debates and event simulations scored by our coaches, with written feedback on every speech.

Choose Cohort A (Saturdays, 9:30–11:30 AM Dubai time) or Cohort B (Sundays, 11:00 AM–1:00 PM Dubai time) for the masterclass; judged rounds run on a weekday evening slot confirmed with enrolled families before kickoff, with both cohorts combined so scholars debate against different opponents each week.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the program run, and does it clash with ToC travel?
Ten weeks from September 5–6 to November 7–8, 2026. The final sessions end the weekend before ToC week at Yale (November 12–18), so scholars finish prep, rest, and fly.
How do the judged practice rounds work?
Once a week, on a weekday evening slot confirmed with enrolled families before the program starts, scholars compete in a full two-hour ToC-format round — usually a 3-on-3 debate, with Bowl, Challenge, and Writing simulations rotated in. Coaches judge and score every round and every scholar receives written feedback.
Which cohort should we pick?
Whichever fits your weekend: Cohort A meets Saturdays 9:30–11:30 AM Dubai time, Cohort B meets Sundays 11:00 AM–1:00 PM Dubai time. The curriculum is identical, and both cohorts combine for the weekly judged round.
My child qualified but their teammates did not sign up. Can they still join?
Yes. Scholars enroll individually and drill with the whole cohort. If all three teammates do enroll together, the team rate drops to $900 per scholar — email admin@wscprep.com or use the Full Team Enrollment option.
Is this program only for scholars who already qualified for ToC?
It's designed for qualified scholars and teams waiting on qualification at a remaining 2026 Global Round. If your scholar hasn't qualified yet, the weekly judged rounds double as Global Round prep — and the curriculum work carries over fully.
What timezone are sessions in? We are not in Dubai.
All times are Dubai time (GST, UTC+4). Saturday 9:30 AM Dubai is 11:30 AM in Kuala Lumpur/Beijing/Singapore/Hong Kong and 1:30 PM in Seoul, so the cohorts work well across the Gulf and Asia.
